Event description:
How extractive industries can help deliver the energy transition in the speed and scope required for a net zero economy by 2050, instead of becoming its bottleneck. As geopolitical tensions between the East and the West are rising, climate-critical minerals such as Lithium in Serbia or Copper in Kazakhstan are facing renewed interest from policy-makers as many energy-transition technologies such as electric vehicles, as well as wind and solar power require increased inputs of these minerals. Where would these minerals come from, do they constitute a new limit to green growth and potentially also green innovation in this climate-critical decade? These are some of the questions we will discuss with distinguished experts in this field.
